Based out of KwaZulu, Southern Africa, mixed-media artist Lungelo employs a diverse range of mediums—from digital illustration to painting and textiles—to address omissions within the historical archive. Through stop-motion storytelling, he acts as an interpolator, a concept he borrows from the music industry's practice of rerecording samples. This framework allows him to creatively re-record and recontextualize fragments of history into a new, compelling body of work.
